AKA Thailand’s head BJJ/MMA coach is the multi-talented Marcio Cesar Gracinha. Professor Marcio is a 3rd degree black belt in BJJ and professional MMA fighter. This makes him the perfect mix to be our head trainer in both MMA and BJJ at the gym.
It was 20 years ago when Marcio decided to begin training in BJJ. He fell in love with it instantly and within 5 years he began MMA. He joined the famed Chute Boxe Academy where he trained alongside fighters such as Wanderlei Silva, Shogun Rua, and Cris Cyborg. Under supercoach Rafael Cordeiro, Marcio trained with the best that the sport had to offer. He amassed a pro record of 21-11-3 in some of the top organizations in the world and attained a wealth of knowledge as well.
In 2011, Marcio moved to Nova Uniao, where some of the all-time greats trained out of (Renan Barao and Jose Aldo). It was in 2014 that Marcio moved to Thailand and began training other people at AKA Thailand.
At AKA Thailand, Marcio serves as the BJJ instructor for everyone who comes through our doors; From the seasoned veteran to total newbies, everyone works with Professor Marcio. His daily utilized quote, “All levels are welcome” rings true every day on the mats. Marcio doesn’t care about ego or levels. He just focuses on spreading his over 20 years of experience to his students who are eager to learn.
All of the qualities that Marcio possesses in BJJ are what make him an invaluable asset to the AKA Thailand staff.
