The Blaisdell Arena was the home of Hawaiian MMA for years, primarily the Superbrawl and Icon promotions. Bellator will be making the trek to the islands and are beating the UFC to the Aloha State. Max Holloway has been campaigning for this for years and the UFC hasn’t been able to get it done.
ESPN’s Ariel Helwani reported the news.
“(Lyoto Machida) will meet former Bellator middleweight champion Rafael Carvalho on Dec. 15 on the promotion’s debut card in Honolulu. The event will be headlined by Hawaii’s Ilima-Lei Macfarlane vs. Valerie Letourneau for the Bellator flyweight title, and it will take place at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center.”
Scott Coker confirmed the news on his Twitter by throwing out an emoji shaka. Classic Scott Coker.
