Now this is a story all about how, the women’s flyweight rankings got flipped-turned upside down. I’d like to take a minute, just sit right there. I’ll tell you how Shevchenko threw off the rankings in a situation quite rare.
Yes, I am available to write the new jingle if the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air ever gets rebooted.
After making the move from bantamweight to flyweight Valentina Shevchenko rocketed to the top of the division after her college hazing of Priscila Cachoeira. Shevchenko now sits steady at the number one ranked women’s flyweight in the world spot. Adding Shevchenko to #1 threw the entire division for a loop. Everyone dropped down a slot to make room for the Bullet at the top.
The inaugural champion, Nicco Montano, certainly earned the tile she now holds. However, many fans feel she is just keeping it warm until Shevchenko comes and takes it.
Looking at the division as a whole, I just don’t see Shevchenko losing to anyone anytime soon. Her stiffest test will certainly be Montano and we wait to hear when that fight goes down.
