Little Nog’s statement on potential doping violation

With the help of Google Translate, we were able to transcribe Antonio Rogerio Nogueira’s statement about his failed drug test. He posted to his Instagram and gave his thoughts as to where his head is at in this new ordeal. Of course, it is in Portuguese, so the translation is below.

Alunos, fãs, amigos, família: à todos que sempre estão ao meu lado, estou aqui falando para vocês. Hoje fui surpreendido pela USADA – órgão de controle de dopping -que apareceu uma substância diurética em meus exames. Estou aqui para tentar esclarecer pois ainda não temos todas as explicações, mas a partir de agora vamos investigar a fundo esta situação, venho dizer à todos vocês que estou confiante na minha inocência e vamos descobrir de fato o que aconteceu, e me defender na hora oportuna. Eu sempre joguei nas regras, sou um lutador veterano e estou no esporte há muito tempo; e eu quero sempre dar exemplo para os mais novos que se espelham na carreira que eu construí e jamais iria me envolver com algo ilícito para melhorar a minha performance ou ganhar alguma vantagem. Nunca precisei tomar diurético, todos que me acompanham principalmente os meus treinadores, sabem que nunca tive dificuldades alguma para perder peso e essa é a função do diurético. Assim que o UFC marca a minha luta, inicio um processo de dieta e treinos para justamente, ao final do camp não sofrer com a queda de peso. É muito difícil esta passando por isso, para mim que sempre fui honesto , e principalmente com o meu trabalho, que me dediquei e ainda me dedico com muito amor. Por conta infelizmente a minha luta foi cancelada, fiquei muito triste com isso tudo, mas espero assim que possível esclarecer esse mal entendido e dar luta espetacular à todos vocês. Obrigado à todos vocês pelo apoio e respeito comigo.

Today I was surprised by the USADA – doping control organization – that found a diuretic substance in my exams. I am here to try to clarify because we do not have all the explanations yet. From now on we will investigate this situation in depth. I am confident in my innocence and will find out what happened and defend myself in the hour timely.

I’ve always played the rules. I’m a veteran fighter and I’ve been in the sport for a long time. I always want to set an example for the younger ones who mirror the career I built. I’d never get involved with something unlawful to improve my performance or gain any advantage.

I have never had to take a diuretic. Everyone around me (mainly to my coaches) knows that I have never have difficulty losing weight; which is the function of a diuretic.

When the UFC marks my fight, I begin dieting and training as to not suffer at the end of camp. It is very difficult to go through this. I’ve always been honest with my work which I dedicate myself to with much love.

Unfortunately, my fight was cancelled an I am very sad about it all. I hope to quickly clarify this misunderstanding and get back to giving spectacular fights to all of you.
