Mike Swick shows how to keep your opponent from getting up

Mike Swick is well-known for being a 15-time UFC veteran and the owner/founder of AKA Thailand. His MMA credentials are in the upper echelon, so listening to his advice is definitely worth following. Here, Swick shows how to take your opponent down and the steps to keeping them there.

Swick is known for his fast hands and knockouts but his wrestling isn’t talked about as much. This is mainly because Swick used wrestling as a defensive tool to keep a fight on his feet so he could try and knock people out. However, Swick had no choice but to learn how to make life miserable for an opponent and keep them down due to training with the likes of Khabib Nurmagomedov, Daniel Cormier, Josh Koscheck, Jon Fitch, and Cain Velasquez.

Swick shows in this video how he can put someone on the ground and keep them there. This technique works with or without using the cage. He shows that regardless of where a fight goes, you can hamper your opponent’s ability to be offensive.

The main technique is grabbing and pulling the far leg out from under your opponent and pinning them on top of their own legs. Again, this can be absolutely miserable for someone who is trying to get up but can’t stop the technique.
